I live only a few miles from the Bowes Museum, which is on the outskirts of Barnard Castle in County Durham. This is one of the most beautiful museums in the world. It was created by John and Josephine Bowes to house their art collections. It resembles a Renaissance chateau, and is always an unfailing delight to visit. I have been doing so for over half a century!
