Mostly landscape and cityscape paintings. For a tag cloud of the painters see bottom of the page. Because the tag cloud allows only 45 names, all the painters are are included in the category list at bottom of the page.

I live in Romania. I have discovered sometimes ago at the Louvre a painting by Meindert Hobbema which has fascinated me. My initial aim was to gather as many images of his paintings as I could, then I extended my attention to his teacher, Jacob van Ruisdael, and then to landscape and cityscape painting in general. I intend to post daily on this blog either paintings of Hobbema or Jacob van Ruisdael, for which I can find decent images, even of those that I do not like very much, and other paintings which seem beautiful.

I was wondering if there would be any copyright infringement by downloading an image from your site? ( for my own personal use)

        Thank You

I got a ackword question… How do you get your photo painting post like this with this great template. I can’t get it to work on my blog. When I click on a photo on my main blog, I get a new tab, but in that page I miss the “Likes” and the “Tags”. I tried many things to change this (for example: edit image with link urls etc) but without result. Can’t find anything on wordpress or google about this issue.

So my question basicly. How do you post the pictures? You use a plugin or a css code? Thanks in advance and keep it up. May painting here are awesome!!

Hi! Thanks a lot for this website!
It allows me to discover a lot of artists.

You’re making a wonderful collection of your own.
It’s always a pleasure to get lost in these landscapes, in the painter’s strokes, in the cracks of the canvas (thanks the high resolution).
Please keep going, discovering and sharing!

    • Merci beaucoup! I am glad that my efforts to find good photographs of these paintings make sense to you. I started this blog knowing a few paintings of Hobbema and Jacob van Ruisdael and I am amazed how many excellent painters do not get the recognition they deserve.

Hi, first of all I would like to apologize for my English. Your site is really like. I also like the old Dutch painters. If you’re interested, I can send what I gathered. I have Hobbema, Ruisdael, Neer, Goyen, Velde, Vries and others.

  20. Hi, would it be possible to use the image of Domenico Gargiulo’s Piazza del Mercato you have for educational purposes? The original link you posted to Museo Thyssen is no longer active so you’re the only one with a high-resolution image of it on the internet at the moment. Since you modified it I believe you owe the copyright of the image, so would you be willing to licence it under Creative Commons (and under which licence)?

    February 7, 2018 at 11:34 pm

    • I do not have the copyright and I know very little about such matters. I guess you can use the image.
